  • Amanda L--We don't live in base housing. The reviews I hear are pretty mixed as to those that like it and those that don't. They are not currently privatized but they are trying to become that way. The current expectation is aimed for 2013. Those of us that live off base are scattered. My family lives about 3 minutes from base in Wichita and we LOVE our neighborhood. I have several friends who live in the surrounding communities of Derby and Andover. They have some pretty great reviews. People in Derby seem to like the school system for the lower grades there a lot. We like the one in our neighborhood as well. There are plenty of activities to do here. Several places offer military discounts and/or free admission for the summertime. The spouses organization is very active and welcoming.
